Jaylen Brown, one of the Philadelphia 76ers' new arrivals, poured in 22 points in the first half alone on his pre-season debut as the Sixers beat reigning champions the New York Knicks 120-97. Elsewhere, LaMelo Ball marked his first outing in a Minnesota Timberwolves jersey with 11 points, four rebounds and three assists in 17 minutes, steering his new side to a 116-97 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic also stood out, scoring 21 points in a convincing display against the Sacramento Kings.

The veterans were not alone in catching the eye, with young talent also making its mark in pre-season. Cameron Boozer, the third pick in this year's draft, was especially effective on his debut, recording 11 points and five rebounds in the Memphis Grizzlies' 132-123 win and laying down a serious marker for the coming regular season.
