More than £100m — that is the fee Bournemouth are demanding for 23-year-old midfielder Alex Scott, with Chelsea in active negotiations over a transfer. Xabi Alonso's side have already agreed personal terms with the player and are confident of completing the deal in the January transfer window. Scott became Chelsea's main transfer target after Enzo Fernandez left for Manchester City on deadline day. Liverpool are also interested in the English midfielder, although Monaco's Lamine Camara and Roma's Manu Kone are being considered as alternatives.
A deal is close. The hefty sum raised from the sale of Enzo Fernandez means Chelsea can pay more than £100m without difficulty. Losing Scott would be a significant blow for Bournemouth, but the Cherries have rebuilt before, having already sold Antoine Semenyo, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez.
