Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has made securing second place for Ferrari in the constructors' championship and overhauling George Russell his main objectives. Following his crash at the Madrid round, the British driver trails championship leader Kimi Antonelli by 101 points, effectively ending his title challenge. Hamilton acknowledged that, with Mercedes so dominant, taking on their team-mates would be extremely difficult. Yet finishing the year in the top three, or even second, would count as a huge achievement for the team.
Hamilton has not stood on the podium since the British Grand Prix in July. Despite that slump, Ferrari have had wins to celebrate: the Briton's victory at the Spanish round in June and Charles Leclerc's triumph at Silverstone. Russell, meanwhile, sits 20 points clear of his former team-mate and remains upbeat about his own prospects.
