Max Verstappen arrives in Singapore targeting victory after claiming his first win of the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix, held at Malaysia’s Sepang circuit. Marina Bay remains unfinished business for the four-time world champion, whose best results there are three second places, in 2018, 2024 and 2025. The Dutchman said winning on a street circuit requires a lot of factors to fall into place, and admitted his car had not previously performed at its best around Marina Bay. He beat Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton last time out, yet Verstappen was careful not to get carried away when looking ahead. “There are no guarantees,” he said.

Isack Hadjar, the young French driver forced to drop back to fifth late in the Sepang race by a component failure, reflected on Red Bull Ford Powertrains’ historic start. He said the team were 0.9 seconds behind leaders Mercedes at the season-opening race in Melbourne, but the latest upgrade has brought the car back into the title fight. Red Bull Ford Powertrains has already won a Formula 1 race within four years of its creation, and exactly seven rounds of the season remain.
