Red Bull engineer Tom Hart will replace Gianpiero Lambiase as Max Verstappen's race engineer, with Lambiase joining McLaren as Chief Racing Officer by 2028 at the latest. A mechanical engineering graduate of Warwick University, Hart joined Red Bull in 2012, spent more than five years as a simulator engineer and moved into Verstappen's engineering group in 2020. Tellingly, Laurent Mekies and Verstappen himself blocked Hart's potential move to Williams.
As part of the transition, Hart will be Verstappen's lead race engineer at the United States, Sao Paulo and Las Vegas Grands Prix at the end of the 2026 season. From 2027, Tom McCullough will join the team to take on the role of Head of Racing.
