Sean Strickland has escaped serious injury after the off-road vehicle he was travelling in rolled six times at 60mph, throwing the 35-year-old middleweight champion head-first into the ground without a helmet. The crash happened in the desert with the vehicle driven by the fighter's friend Chris Cornell, who was knocked unconscious and taken to hospital. Strickland suffered head and back injuries and branded himself an idiot for ignoring the most basic safety rules. Despite a mild concussion and a sore shoulder, the American insisted he was feeling fine and planned to spar the very next day. Having beaten Khamzat Chimaev in May to become a two-time champion, Strickland is now throwing himself back into training.
