Esteban Ribovics came in half a pound over the lightweight limit at the official UFC 332 weigh-ins, forfeiting 20% of his purse and automatically losing eligibility for a $25,000 bonus. The financial hit did not slow the Argentine down inside the Octagon, where he finished King Green with a first-round TKO. After the fight, Ribovics revealed that someone had unexpectedly switched on the air conditioning in the hotel workout room, and his body simply stopped sweating. "On Thursday, there's something that we do, we do everything we could to get to a certain number, just to cut some stuff on Friday, but they turned on the air conditioning while we were just doing it and basically I stopped sweating," he explained.
He laughed off suggestions that it had been sabotage orchestrated by his opponent's camp. With back-to-back wins over Edson Barboza and King Green, Ribovics has made a serious statement of intent in the lightweight rankings.
