Police pulled over 22-year-old Cristian Volpato on Sydney's Anzac Bridge after clocking him above the speed limit. The World Cup player, who switched allegiances from Italy to Australia only a short time ago, now faces the most serious of allegations.
The official police statement says the footballer tested positive for cocaine in a roadside test. Volpato, who made three appearances at the World Cup, was stopped in the early hours of Friday. His career is on hold. Instead of sporting glory, his main battleground now is the courtroom.
