Los Angeles Clippers forward Brandon Ingram, a two-time All-Star, has undergone surgery on his right heel, during which doctors discovered a partial tear of his Achilles tendon. Ingram, who arrived from the Toronto Raptors in September in the trade that took Kawhi Leonard the other way, still has no set timetable for his return to the court. Last season he averaged 21.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the Canadian franchise. "My recovery has been going good," Ingram said of his rehabilitation. "I won't be participating in training camp much but I will be out there a little bit."
Trent Redden, the Clippers' interim president of basketball operations, explained that the heel operation had been carried out back in May, but the club only got a clear read on where Ingram stood in his recovery once he arrived in California. Other fitness worries are mounting too — Bradley Beal will miss the start of training camp in Hawaii with inflammation in his right knee, while Jordan Miller has had shoulder surgery. The Clippers will reassess Ingram's condition once the regular season is under way.
