England's Independent Football Regulator, the IFR, has said it has the power to force Manchester City's owners out if they are ultimately found to have run the club improperly. "We have the power to ask an owner to step away from a club if we believe that they run a club in a way that is neither fit, fair or done with propriety," IFR chair David Kogan told The Rest Is Football podcast. "No, no, no," Kogan replied when asked whether an owner could refuse. "We've got absolute power to do so."

An independent commission found that City used sham commercial arrangements to inflate revenues or reduce costs by more than £900 million over nine seasons, a verdict the club is appealing.
