The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has handed 45-day bans to 147 current and former club officials for breaching betting rules. The Professional Football Disciplinary Committee examined the cases of 448 people referred to it in September, all of whom had held positions in the top two divisions over the past five years. A total of 301 officials were cleared outright due to a lack of evidence, but those sanctioned include Ertugrul Dogan, president of Trabzonspor, who play in the Super Lig, Turkey's top flight.

The 45-day sanction amounts to a complete ban on football activity and on carrying out official duties at clubs. The TFF sharply tightened its betting monitoring system after a major scandal and is pressing on with its efforts to stamp out such cases.
