After 13 seasons and 895 regular-season games with the Milwaukee Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo has made his first appearance in a Miami Heat jersey. The Heat beat the Toronto Raptors 129-105 in a pre-season game at the Videotron Centre in Quebec City, watched by a crowd of 18,474. In 14 minutes and seven seconds on court, the Greek forward collected nine points, four rebounds and seven assists, and was perfect from the field, going three for three.
Head coach Erik Spoelstra singled out his new signing's playmaking, comparing him to Magic Johnson, the Los Angeles Lakers great of the 1980s who was coached by Heat president Pat Riley. "Pat was at practice all week and the way he's played with the ball in his hands and delivering the ball, he reminds all of us of a great big point guard that played for Pat back in the '80s," Spoelstra said. Miami used 19 players on the night, keeping their preparations for the new season firmly on track.
