Written off as a 5-1 underdog, Song Yadong produced the biggest upset of the UFC's Shanghai card by beating former title challenger Umar Nurmagomedov.
The bantamweight contest was settled at 1:48 of the second round. Nurmagomedov slipped a left hand but walked into a short right that landed flush on the ear, and he went down unconscious. Song added three more shots on the canvas before the referee waved it off. Usman Nurmagomedov, his opponent's brother, stormed into the cage in fury, yet the Chinese fighter simply climbed out of the Octagon and into the crowd. There he made his case for a title fight, roaring in English: "Give me the title shot!" The emphatic win moves him within touching distance of becoming the first Chinese male UFC champion.
