The Portuguese Football Federation has handed Cristiano Ronaldo a 30-day suspension and a €255 fine for walking out of the national team camp. The incident happened during the Nations League: after the win over Wales, Portugal boss Jorge Jesus left him on the bench for the match against Norway, prompting the forward to leave the camp in protest. The federation said the player had formally admitted the charge, and that his clean disciplinary record helped reduce the sanction.
The suspension was backdated to 1 October, meaning Ronaldo has already served 19 days of it. He will therefore return to the Portugal squad for the next Nations League fixture against Denmark on 14 November.
