The threat of a two-match ban has left Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior at risk of missing El Clasico against Barcelona. After he was sent off against Villarreal for pulling an opponent's hair, referee Isidro Diaz de Mera noted the Brazilian's aggressive behaviour in his official report. "Vinicius, after having been sent off and still on the pitch, continued protesting my decision, shouting loudly, heading toward the area where I was with an aggressive attitude, having to be restrained by teammates, without being able to understand any specific expression," the report read.
The standard one-match suspension will apply to the game against Sevilla, but the disciplinary committee could extend the ban to the meeting with Barcelona on 25 October because of his conduct towards the referee. Vinicius Junior's inconsistent form since the World Cup is creating further problems for manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese may now have to find a new partner for Kylian Mbappe in attack.
