Jose Mourinho defended Vinicius Junior after Real Madrid's 4-1 win over RB Leipzig, in which Kylian Mbappe scored in a fifth consecutive Champions League match. Vinicius failed to complete a single dribble for a second game in a row, only the third time that has happened in 309 career starts. Yan Diomande, the 19-year-old who replaced him, scored one goal and set up another.
"If he is sad, that is a very personal matter... As a coach, I am happy with the match he played... Of the three attackers, he had the greatest responsibility from the defensive balance standpoint," Mourinho said. Bernardo Silva and Arda Guler were also on the scoresheet.
