€526.2 million — a historic record set by Manchester City on the transfer market, and the first time any club has spent more than half a billion in a single window. On deadline day they took Enzo Fernández from Chelsea for €145 million. Madness. For all the unrest behind the scenes, the London club let their star go. Yet City did well out of sales too, recouping €337 million.
Chelsea were busy in their own right, spending €406.7 million, with Morgan Rogers the most expensive addition at €138 million. Liverpool took an entirely different route, setting aside only €264.4 million this time after last season's record outlay. Their new arrival Bradley Barcola has already raised expectations sharply. "Liverpool fans should be VERY excited!" Thierry Henry declared. Closing out the top ten of the transfer marathon are Al-Hilal of Asia, who ploughed €205.9 million into new players.
