Brighton wanted more for Carlos Baleba than the record £115m they collected when Moisés Caicedo left, but Manchester United closed the deal for far less. The clubs settled on £65m plus £5m in add-ons, and Fabrizio Romano duly delivered his trademark "here we go". A £60m bid had been turned down before that, yet the player never wavered: he wanted the red half of Manchester and nothing else. Now he has it. The 22-year-old will undergo a medical shortly and sign a five-year contract, handing United a long-term target, £45m in savings and a midfield that looks considerably stronger.
