The floor of the car slammed hard into the asphalt at Turn 4, the driver lost control and hit the barrier. Cadillac's Mexican driver Sergio Perez crashed during sprint qualifying at the Singapore Grand Prix, bringing out the red flag. "I pushed a lot, and in the middle of the corner, the car bottomed out quite aggressively, and I couldn't control it," Perez said, describing the incident.
The impact damaged his front wing, forcing him back to the pits for repairs. Once back on track he managed a lap of 1:36.760, which was only good enough for 20th place. Perez out-qualified only his team-mate Valtteri Bottas and Carlos Sainz.
