Forty-five official matches after he first graced its court, London's O2 Arena has paid tribute to tennis great Roger Federer by opening the RF Room, a space dedicated to his legacy. Tellingly, it marks the first time in the venue's history that it has set aside such a space for an individual athlete. The Swiss returned to Britain on 23 September 2026, exactly four years to the day after his farewell match there on 23 September 2022.
Ahead of the ninth edition of the Laver Cup, the team competition pitting Europe against the rest of the world, Alex Hill, president of AEG International, personally handed Federer the key to the new room, along with a symbolic table tennis bat crafted from the arena's roofing material. The room houses 45 rackets, the 45th of which bears Federer's own signature. The Swiss great stressed that the O2 Arena will always remain a very special place for him. As the tournament's co-founder, he will attend this year's Laver Cup, which runs in London from 25 to 27 September, in the capacity of official organiser.
