AC Milan and Inter will officially unveil the new San Siro project at Milan's Sforza Castle: a stadium for 71,500 spectators, with more than 13,000 premium seats. After years of wrangling, the architecture firms Foster + Partners and Manica, whose founders Norman Foster and David Manica both worked on Wembley Stadium, have produced renderings of the future arena. To boost revenue, Inter's owner, the investment fund Oaktree, and AC Milan's owner, RedBird, will share the financial responsibility and investment equally.
History is being written. Planning permission is expected by the summer of 2027, after which construction will begin. The new arena is due to open in 2031, ahead of Euro 2032, and only then will the century-old San Siro be demolished.
