Charles Leclerc missed Thursday's official media day at the São Paulo Grand Prix in its entirety, flying out to Brazil only that day. The Ferrari driver delayed his trip to Interlagos so he could be present for the birth of his first child, a daughter named Bianca, with his wife Alexandra. Skipping the media duties set out in the FIA's sporting regulations normally brings a fine, but the Scuderia's driver was granted an official exemption. "Charles has been exempt of attending media activities today in São Paulo, following the birth of his daughter. He will resume regular track activities from tomorrow morning," Ferrari said in a statement. Ferrari Driver Academy rookie Dino Beganovic was already scheduled to take his car in first practice as part of the mandatory rookie outings. Family came first. After his clash with Lewis Hamilton and a fourth-place finish at the Mexico City Grand Prix, Leclerc, fifth in the drivers' championship, remains in the fight for second place.
