Three technical fouls for defensive flopping in the space of 90 seconds during the Lakers-Trail Blazers game have prompted Steve Kerr and Chris Finch to openly challenge the NBA's new officiating policy. Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Finch argued that the league is making a mistake by focusing on defenders when it is offensive flopping that frustrates fans. "They want the flops on the offense out of the game... They care if an offensive player is baiting the game and falling down and getting unnecessary free throws," Finch said.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr backed his counterpart in no uncertain terms. "You know my take on the NBA. We should be the No Bulls— Association... It's a better game when guys aren't flopping, guys aren't grabbing and hooking each other or running into screens and looking like they got hit by a car," Kerr said. "I feel like constantly as a league we are behind the players. The players are grifting and we're chasing them and we're never getting ahead of it," he added.
