Viktor Gyokeres scored 21 goals in his debut season at Arsenal, but he has lost his place in the starting line-up in the Premier League this term. Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith believes the Swede would certainly be sold if the club signed a new centre-forward in January. Gyokeres has slipped behind Kai Havertz in the hierarchy and has yet to score in six appearances this season. "If they did get another top striker, I think he would be sold, and he'd probably want to go, because he'd then be dropped one more place down the pecking order," Smith said.
Despite widespread rumours of a possible swap deal involving Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, the player himself insists he never considered leaving in the summer. "Of course, there was a lot of speculation... But I had a full pre-season, and it felt good. I was fully focused on Arsenal. For me, staying was a given. I'm extremely happy at the club," Gyokeres told Swedish media. Arsenal are considering Bayer Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane as a target for the January window.
