Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard has agreed a two-year, $44.2 million contract extension with the club, including a mutual option for the 2029-30 season. The 2024 NBA champion and 2025 Sixth Man of the Year posted career-best numbers last season, averaging 17 points, 5.2 assists and 3.9 rebounds. The 28-year-old will earn $7.8 million this season and $8.3 million next year, while the new deal will take his salary past $21 million in 2028-29. The agreement means he will spend at least nine seasons with the Celtics.
With Jayson Tatum injured last season, Pritchard started 50 games and saw his touches per game rise from 51.8 to nearly 70. He joined Tatum, Derrick White and Antoine Walker as one of only four players in Celtics history to make at least 200 three-pointers in more than one season. His consistency has paid off too: his 241 games over the last three years are tied for third-most in the league, underlining just how big his role has become.
