Doc Rivers has officially called time on his coaching career and will move into television as an analyst with NBC Sports. The 64-year-old leaves the sidelines with 1,194 regular-season wins, sixth in NBA history, and the 2008 championship on his record. His decision follows his departure from the Milwaukee Bucks at the end of the 2025-26 season. Rivers, who also coached the Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers, left no room for doubt about his future, insisting he is stepping away from coaching completely and for good. Between 1999 and 2026, he racked up 114 playoff victories, the fourth-highest total in the league's history.
NBC, which will broadcast 100 games during the 2026-27 season, will pair Rivers with his son, Austin Rivers, and five of his former players. The move opens a fresh chapter for one of the game's most respected figures, taking him off the hardwood and into the studio, where he will bring decades of basketball expertise to a television audience.
