That total breaks down into a €23.6 million prize bonus plus a reimbursement of the squad's preparation costs. The size of that second slice depends on who you ask, with estimates ranging from €2.2 million to €2.5 million.
The numbers only climb from here, as every step forward triggers a bigger cheque from FIFA. Finishing third would be worth €25.4 million to the team, while reaching the final lifts the figure to €28.9 million. The real target, though, is holding on to the crown: retaining the World Cup would swell the federation's coffers to €43.7 million.
