Two Dublin residents are facing up to 10 years in prison, accused of submitting false affidavits in Conor McGregor's civil appeal. Samantha O'Reilly, 38, and Steven Cummins, 39, appeared before Judge Michele Finan at Dublin District Court following their arrest by the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Ireland's national police investigative unit, and were formally charged with perjury. In 2024, Nikita Hand won her civil case against McGregor at the High Court and was awarded €248,603 in damages. The Irish fighter then sought to overturn the verdict with evidence from the couple, Hand's former neighbours.

The courts have taken a firm line. McGregor's legal team pulled the neighbours' affidavits on Hand's bruising and injuries at the very outset of the Court of Appeal hearing, and the appeal was later dismissed in its entirety. Judge Finan granted both defendants bail on condition that they sign on at their local police station every Wednesday and have no contact with witnesses. Ultimately, the case is set to be heard by a jury: the pair are due back at the District Court on 9 November, when the prosecution will serve the book of evidence before the case is sent forward for trial.
