€832 million. That is the squad cost limit La Liga has set for Real Madrid for the 2026/27 campaign, the highest figure in the history of Spain's top flight. The Madrid giants have pushed past last season's €761m mark, lifting their financial ceiling by €71m and setting an outright Spanish record in the process. No club in La Liga has ever been cleared to spend on that scale. The limit covers, in full, the cost of the first-team squad, the manager and his coaching staff, the reserve side and the academy.
Over the summer transfer window Madrid added six new players — Yan Diomandé, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries, Carlos Espí and Marc Cucurella — while Dani Carvajal and Dani Ceballos left the club alongside a group of younger squad members. Yet all that business has barely dented a financial advantage over their rivals that remains colossal. Barcelona's limit stands at €582.769m, Atlético Madrid's at €361.287m. Ultimately, the champions of Spanish spending power sit €249m clear of their nearest challenger and enter the new season with a head start no one else can match.
