The Washington Wizards would seriously consider trading Anthony Davis to the Detroit Pistons should the Pistons decide to put young star Jalen Duren on the trade market. Detroit have already offered Duren, a restricted free agent, a five-year contract worth $200 million, and he has until midnight on Thursday to accept it. Alternatively, the 22-year-old centre can sign a one-year, $9.6 million qualifying offer, which would allow him to enter next summer's market as an unrestricted free agent.

Any deal would be far from straightforward. Davis is on a salary of $58.5 million this season and is eligible for a four-year contract extension worth up to $275 million. Washington general manager Will Dawkins is a huge admirer of the American forward, yet the two sides have shelved extension talks until the regular season is under way. Duren, meanwhile, has also drawn strong interest from the Sacramento Kings and the Milwaukee Bucks, which could drag any deal out until the February trade deadline.
