Bayern had been dragged into trouble by an equaliser on 61 minutes, yet after a quadruple substitution on 65 the captain produced the decisive strike in attack, his fourth goal of the campaign, lifting his side to fourth in the table on seven points. In the poll run on the Bundesliga's official website he took 37 per cent of the vote, finishing ahead of Lennart Karl, Aleksandar Pavlović, Ismael Saibari, Michael Olise and Moritz Krattenmacher to be named man of the match. Ultimately, with the Ballon d'Or to be handed out in London next month and Kane the leading favourite to collect it, he remains Bayern's foremost attacking force.
