San Antonio Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson has confirmed that the three-guard line-up of De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper, used in the 123-103 win over the Phoenix Suns, will also be his first choice for the regular-season opener. The trio shared the floor for just 25 minutes last season, yet they logged 11 minutes together in the first half of that preseason game alone, and the Spurs went on to pour in 38 points in the second quarter.

The new set-up has already lifted Victor Wembanyama's game. "The biggest thing is I've got handlers all around me, guys that we want to put the ball in their hands and pick and roll around me. That makes things easier," the French star said. Harper, the No 2 pick in the 2025 draft, had been pushing for a starting spot, while the 1.98m (6ft 6in) Castle is the tallest of the three. The Spurs open the new season with a revamped starting five and big ambitions.
