Torreense, a second-tier club from Portugal, will be pitched straight in against Europe's heavyweights on their European debut. The draw in Monaco will bring 36 teams together in an unprecedented single league phase.

Seeded across four pots, every side will face eight different opponents. The fight will be unforgiving. Tellingly, although Aston Villa are named as the competition's previous winners, they do not feature in this season's pots at all. From the highest-ranked clubs down to the outsiders, the target is the same: a place in the top eight. Only the strongest will cross the finish line, while for the remaining twelve teams the European dream will end abruptly.
