After 257 goals and nine years at Liverpool, Mohamed Salah has taken his career in an unexpected direction, joining Turkish side Trabzonspor. He won three of the game's major individual awards in the 2024/25 season, yet a drop-off last term and a public falling-out with manager Arne Slot made his exit inevitable. With talks at Beşiktaş having collapsed over the financial details, the Black Sea club stepped in and put a two-year contract on the table worth 17 million euros in wages, plus a further 5 million in bonuses. Hundreds of supporters were waiting to greet the forward on his arrival in Istanbul, and he gave them the line they wanted, declaring above the noise: "Everywhere is Trabzon to us." On Thursday at Papara Park he will be presented in the number 10 shirt, opening a new chapter in Turkish football.
