$218,341 for every missed game — the Golden State Warriors have stopped paying Kristaps Porzingis, withholding 1/91.6 of his $20m salary per game on the grounds that the Latvian centre is not fulfilling his contractual obligations. The 31-year-old has not been seen at the team's facility since early October. Porzingis, who has previously been diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), has been ruled out indefinitely with an undisclosed health issue and is contemplating retirement. Porzingis and the NBPA, the players' union, are not contesting the fines and are working on a buyout of his contract, which pays $20m in 2026-27 and $20m in 2027-28, with $3m of the latter guaranteed. His career hangs by a thread. The Warriors are also exploring trade options, but have decided against adding Myles Turner, who is owed $83.6m over three years, and have shown interest in the Chicago Bulls' Jalen Smith, who earns $9.4m.
