Madhya Pradesh gets 25,001 Remdesivir vials, 8,984 for Indore – ET HealthWorld

Indore: The Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College has received around 25,001 vials of Remdesivir injection on Sunday in two lots for decided to hospitals associated with government medical colleges and district hospitals in MP.

Around 5,000 vials were received on Sunday morning while the rest in the evening. MGM has been made the nodal agency for receiving and referring remdesivir to all government medical colleges and district hospitals in the state.

MGM dean Dr Sanjay Dixit said, “On Sunday, the medical college received 25,000 vials of anti-viral injections in two lots.”

These injections will be supplied to all 13 medical colleges and district hospitals in the state for treatment of Covid-19 patients, said Dr Dixit. Of these 25,000 vials, Indore district received 8,984 vials. Bhopal followed at second position with 4,579 vials, shows the allocation plan of the state.

The state government on April 8 intervened and chalked out a plan by roping a private pharma company for donating the vials under CSR activity in order to provide them to the needy.

The intervention was made following many images and videos of people queuing up for purchasing the anti-viral drug.

Chaotic situation was witnessed in the state due to an acute shortage of Remdesivir as the demand peaked up in the last one week.

The state had over40,000 active Covid cases in the last 10 days, according to the daily health bulletin.
