World number one Jannik Sinner has confirmed that a serious knee injury will keep him off the court for the rest of the 2026 season. "Me, together with the doctors, have decided that I need a course of treatment for my knee," the Italian told fans on social media as he explained the medical decision.
Sinner ends his campaign with a 44-3 record and six titles, including a Grand Slam triumph at Wimbledon. The injury rules him out of the season-ending ATP Finals and the Davis Cup. The enforced break also threatens his grip on top spot, with Alexander Zverev just 1,280 points behind in the rankings and now with a genuine chance of becoming world number one.
