However, the task was easier said than done. As per the official data available till 10 pm, a total of 16.41 lakh vaccine doses were administered. “The entries are still being done for those places where there were connectivity issues, earlier, such entries were done a day after, but now the system has changed as after midnight it will not be accepted as today’s vaccination, thus figure is likely to go up further”, state vaccination officer, Dr Santosh Shukla told TOI.
The drive was carried out at 7,000 centers across the state, with over 35,000 vaccinators on the job.
Sources said that there was an allocation of around 21.29 lakh vaccine doses till Monday and 4.88 lakh are in stock. However as Covid-19 vaccination will not be done on Tuesday when universal vaccination is carried out, more doses will be available by Wednesday, said sources.
If official figures are to be believed in run up to the drive, 22% less vaccine doses were administered in the state compared to previous week.
In the week between June 4 and June 10, a total of around 15.39 lakh vaccine doses were administered. But between June 11 and June 17—the next 7 days—only 11.85 lakh doses were administered which is 22% less number of doses compared to previous week. Sources from the health department attributed it to the unavailability of vaccine at that time, which led to such a situation.
Fifty out of 52 districts of the state crossed their set targets for vaccination and more than 100% vaccination against the set targets was achieved in these districts. Only Panna and Bhopal districts failed to achieve the 100% vaccination target. As per report available till 10 pm, 95% vaccination target was achieved in Bhopal and 91% vaccination target was achieved in Panna district.
Khandwa district topped the state in terms of achieving vaccination against the target as 205% vaccination was reported there, followed by Chhindwara where 190% vaccination was reported.
In terms of number of vaccination doses administered in a day, it was Indore where highest number of doses were administered as 2.21 lakh people got vaccinated there, followed by state Bhopal where 1.42 lakh people were vaccinated, then it was Ujjain where 1.02 lakh got vaccinated .
